Privacy policy

Vera Circle operates a Canadian local-services marketplace. We handle personal information under the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy law.

What we collect

• Account: email, name, phone number, role, and your confirmation that you are 18 or older.
• Service addresses: the addresses where work happens. Providers only see the neighbourhood until a booking is confirmed.
• Provider verification: identity results from Stripe Identity. We receive a pass or fail and the verification reference — not your identity document.
• Payments: handled by Stripe. Card numbers never reach our servers; we store payment references, amounts and fee breakdowns.
• Session evidence: check-in and start location readings, timestamps, and in-app messages tied to a booking.
• Tax reporting: for providers, the legal name, date of birth and SIN or Business Number that the Canada Revenue Agency requires under Part XX.

How we use it

• Matching customers with nearby providers and running bookings.
• Processing payments, refunds and payouts.
• Verifying identity and reviewing provider profiles before they go live.
• Investigating disputes, reports and safety concerns.
• Meeting tax, accounting and legal obligations.
• Sending transactional messages about your bookings, and — only with your consent — product and launch updates.

Location data

Live location is shared only during an active session, only between the two parties on that booking, and only from the point a provider is on their way. It stops when the session ends. We keep the check-in and start readings as evidence that the visit happened, because disputes turn on exactly that.

Your rights

You can download everything we hold about you from your profile at any time. You can also request deletion once you have no open bookings, open disputes or unfinished payments. We respond to access requests within 30 days. The public deletion page is veracircle.ca/account/delete.

Deletion removes your profile and contact details. Booking and payment records are retained where Canadian tax and dispute-resolution obligations require it, without the personal identifiers that are no longer needed.

Who we share with

Service providers who make the product work: Stripe (payments, identity, payouts), Supabase (database and authentication), Resend (email), Ably (realtime messaging) and Mapbox (maps). We do not sell personal information.
