Terms of service

What Vera Circle is

We run a marketplace. Providers are independent — they set their own rates, choose their own jobs and control their own schedule. We are not their employer, and we do not perform the services ourselves.

Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old and located in Canada.
• Providers must complete identity verification and payout onboarding, and be approved by our team, before their profile can be booked.
• Providers attest that they are responsible for their own work and carry liability insurance where their trade requires it. Vera Circle carries commercial general liability for the platform and does not insure individual jobs.

Bookings and payment

• Prices are set by providers and shown in full, including tax, before you book.
• We place a hold on your card up to 48 hours before the job and charge you only after the work is confirmed done.
• Hourly jobs bill the time actually worked, rounded up to the nearest 15 minutes, subject to the provider's stated minimum.
• Tips are optional and go entirely to the provider.
• Vera Circle takes a commission on the service amount. The rate is locked in when the job is confirmed, so a later change does not affect a job already underway.
• After we charge you, we hold the provider's share for a short waiting period (currently three days) so a problem can be reported before we release it. Tips follow the same wait.

Cancellations and no-shows

• Cancel 24 hours or more before the start: no fee.
• Cancel within 24 hours of the start: a 25% late-cancellation fee applies.
• If a customer is not reachable at the address after the provider checks in and a grace period passes, a 50% no-show fee applies. The customer gets a response window before it is charged.
• If a provider cancels late or does not show, the customer is not charged and the provider carries a strike. Repeated strikes lead to suspension.
• One free reschedule is allowed when the job is 24 or more hours away.

Reviews

Both parties may rate each other after a completed job. Neither review is published until both are submitted or seven days pass. Reviews are editable until they publish and fixed afterwards. We remove reviews that contain personal information, hate speech or content unrelated to the job, and we log every removal.

Disputes

Either party can open a dispute from the booking while the visit is underway, and after completion until we release the provider's payout. Payout stays held while we review. We may refund in full or in part, or release the payout. Our decision resolves the platform transaction; it does not limit rights either party has outside the platform.

Staying on platform

Bookings arranged on Vera Circle must be paid on Vera Circle. Off-platform payment forfeits the cancellation, dispute and receipt protections described here, and repeatedly soliciting it can end your account.

Prohibited conduct

• Misrepresenting your identity, qualifications or insurance status.
• Harassment, discrimination or threats toward anyone on the platform.
• Sharing another user's personal information outside the booking.
• Manipulating ratings, or creating accounts to evade a suspension.
